Chelsea has won it’s first test game of the season with 2-4 from Seattle, a team from the United States. All goals were marked in the first half.
Also his Belgian companion Romelu Lukaku scored twice (2nd and 43rd minute).

Just like Eden has marked his farewell game at Lille, he marked his first game at Chelsea with a goal as well. The last goal was from newcomer Marko Marin.

“He has great qualities and you can see that everyday in training.”

Good for Eden, to hold off the pressure a bit, since the tabloids in England is just waiting to publish juicy articles about how the transfer money is exaggerated, and so on…

Coach Di Matteo about Hazard: “Hazard can have a great impact in the Premier League next season. He has great qualities and you can see that everyday in training.”

Eden first appearance in the Blues’ shirt. Many fans were waiting for that.

Romelu Lukaku also got a great start. The very young attacker – only 19 – is keen to show Di Matteo why Belgium has great hopes to have a striker on international level. Gis goal after only 2 minutes must have felt well.

“The team has a good understanding with their new teammates”

Di Matteo added: “It is good for Marko and Eden to score in their first game for the club and it was good to see they have a good understanding with their new teammates. I felt we showed good energy, the new players integrated in well and showed the talent coming through can be the future of this club.”

Chelsea anno 2012 with many newcomers.

To integrate and work towards a younger team this year, Di Matteo had a line-up with Hazard, Marin, Branislav Ivanovic, David Luiz and John Obi Mikel all included. Also – again Belgian – newcomer Kevin Debruyne got to show some of his talents.
