Belgian national players Thibaut Courtois and Eden Hazard have become respectively 20th and 21th at the election of the Ballon D’Or 2014 (Golden Ball). This was shown from the voting results released by the International Football Federation FIFA. The 22-year-old goalkeeper and two years older winger from Chelsea were among the 23 nominees.

Cristiano Ronaldo was elected for the third time as best footballer of the Year since he already won the Golden Ball in 2008 and 2013. As captain of the Portuguese national team, Cristiano was also entitled to vote. He voted for Sergio Ramos, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema, three of his teammates at Real. Messi had voted for Angel Di Maria, Andrés Iniesta and Javier Mascherano.

Ronaldo finally got 37.66 percent of the votes and took it over to quadruple winner Lionel Messi (15.76%) and Manuel Neuer (15.72%).
